A Tale of Two Hot Tools: Straight Hair or Curly Hair?

In less than 10 minutes, you can calm frizz, add shine and smooth your hair with an InfinitiPRO by Conair Diamond Brilliance Diamond-Infused Ceramic Smoothing Hot Brush. I've tried quite a few hot brushes and gotten very mixed results. Some didn't seem to grab the hair and on other brushes, the bristles weren't tall enough to adequately smooth the hair.

I really like the Diamond-Infused Ceramic Smoothing Hot Brush! For one, I really like the paddle shape; I feel like I can smooth more hair, evenly, without having to repeat sections, potentially causing damage to the hair. I like how shiny my hair is after I use this tool; the buzzing sound of the ionic technology means it's smoothing my hair in more than one way, adding shine as it goes. The brush contains three types of bristles (nylon, ceramic and silicone) to help manage the hair as it is smoothed, making the entire process easier.  Diamond-infused ceramic and advanced ionic technology creates silky, smooth hair. It heats up in less than a minute and goes to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It gets hot really fast, so always pick it up by the handle. Plus it's got three temperature settings, making it easy to style your type of hair.

To use the Diamond-Infused Ceramic Smoothing Hot Brush, apply your favorite heat protectant spray to your hair, making sure all of the hair is protected. I like to section my thick hair into four layers, starting from the bottom to the top. I brush through one layer at a time, adding tension by holding the ends of my hair taut. Pull the brush through slowly and voila! Straight, pretty hair that looks smooth without being flat.

And here is a look at how it handles naturally curly hair, courtesy of my friend Finn.
Smooth volume that lasts? What's not to love?

Speaking of which, I love sleek hair, but who doesn't love bouncy curls from time to time? I decided to revisit my old friend, the the InfinitiPRO by Conair Curl Secret. This is a self-curling styling tool that doesn't have a barrel.

You may remember when I decided to curl my very long hair using this and got great results (and smacked myself in the face!). It also has three timer settings that ensure a perfect curl, a dual temperature setting and heats up in less than a minute. This is a great styling tool that gives beautiful results.

Here's how to try it!

Start by making sure hair has been sprayed with a heat protectant.

Next, you'll want to make sure your hair is tangle free.

Determine your sections and clip them, based on length and how many curls you are looking to create. I opted for as many curls as my hair could handle!

With the correct side facing you, take a small section of hair and feed it into the curling chamber. The hair will be spun around the curling chamber, timed exactly and then released. I like to hold the curl in my hand while it cools for maximum curliness. Repeat this process over and over until you've curled your entire head. Make sure that your hair is tangle-free and that you are using small sections. Easy!

Let's discuss the elephant in the room. Can this accidentally eat your head? No, it can't eat your head or burn you, unless you stick your finger in the hot chamber (don't do that, ok?). Yes, your hair can get stuck. It doesn't happen often and if you follow the instructions, you'll never have to worry about it. Should your hair not enter the curling chamber correctly, the iron stops itself thanks to some really smart Anti-Tangle tech, and releases the hair. Just comb out the section, make sure the section isn't too large and try again. The iron won't eat your hair or burn your head. If you follow the rules--no tangles and small sections--you won't have an issue. And just in case something does get stuck, it comes out very easily.

That said, take a look at my Express Yourself hair ! Don't go for second best, baby! I love this look way more than I thought. It's now my favorite way to wear my hair on a Friday. The second and third day waves make weekend styling so easy!
