My Maskcara Makeover

Highlight and contour with Maskcara and Gouldylox

I've been a huge fan of Cara's blog Maskcara for years. While I would practically kill for a makeover from Cara herself, getting her results at home are easier than you think. I recently got the chance to try her new signature IIID Foundation Palette and wow. Just wow.

I'm at a loss for words. Cara's latest formulation is beyond gorgeous on the skin, it wears better than most products I have in my arsenal (photos below for proof!) and reminds me why I love makeup and makeovers so much.

Maskcara blush brush and highlighting creams

If you aren't familiar with Cara's approach to makeup, it's all about the HAC (highlight and contour). Her looks are inspired by highlighting your natural beauty and adding an extra dash of glam. If you want to get her signature look for yourself, pick up a pre-filled palette that matches your skintone. Or you can mix and match, filling your own palette. There are four basic colors you'll need to choose:

Highlight foundation
Contour foundation
Blush color
Highlighter

Maskcara Beauty highlighting and contouring palette

Choosing only four is the hardest part, seriously. The entire palette is $45.00 and if you can't decide on blushes, bronzers or highlighters, each additional gorgeous tin is only $12.00. I'll share more about each product after I can spend a little time with them. But in the meantime, you have to see my before and after!

Colors shown in the palette are what I used in my makeover.

Gouldylox gets a makeover from Maskcara

Maskcara IIID foundation wears for more than 8 hours
Remember I said that the wear time was phenomenal? I looked pretty good before I left for a meeting, right? Then traffic caused me to run about 30 minutes late, and of course all of the parking garages were full, so I parked 10 blocks away. I dashed out of the parking garage, sans umbrella, and spent the next ten blocks running in heels through the rain drops. How any makeup survived the entire day is beyond my comprehension. The wear is incredible!
