We are in the thick of award season and one trend you can't escape? Fancy lobs. Long bobs, angled bobs--whatever kind of bob you want to call it, this is the style you're going to see all year. Don't want to cut off your locks? Faking a lob, award ceremony style, is easier than you think, when you have the right products. Anyone can do it and look award ceremony-worthy. I promise!
To get started, you'll need a few bobby pins, a ponytail holder and a bubble wand. You'll also need a great heat protectant, like Style Sexy Hair 450 Headset from Sexy Hair. It adds a touch of hold and protects hair all the way up to 450 degrees. You'll need a root texturizer for volume and movement. I like Big Sexy Hair Powder Play because it grips without being too strong. Finally, you'll need a hairspray that allows you to move and adjust the style, without losing hold. Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play is absolutely perfect for texturized styles like this that need to retain their shape, while moving naturally.
Texture is the key to this style. Forget a perfect curl. Instead, add texture to your hair to help hide the imperfections. I'm obsessed with waves that don't look like they came from a curling iron--I want bent waves that aren't so perfectly spiral. Here's how to get the look!
When your hair is damp, spray Big Sexy Hair Full Bloom throughout the hair and then blow dry to activate the formula. This spray will protect your strands while gently scenting your hair for a full twenty-four hours, and add volume for seventy-two hours. Every time you touch your hair, the scent refreshes.
Once your hair is dry, start by parting it deeply on one side. Add a little volumizing and texturizing powder like Big Sexy Hair Powder Play to give hair a little lift and a little added texture. Only apply this at the roots; you don't want a matte texture throughout your hair.
Using a bubble wand, wrap different size sections of hair around the wand and hold for a few seconds. When you unwrap smaller sections of hair, be sure to pull them out a bit. You don't want perfect curls. Shake out your hair, making sure that the layers aren't curling into larger sections. You want definition and separation, not large, Kardashian-like waves.
Spray hair with Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray which will add shine and hold but still allow you to continue styling. Pull your hair back into a rough pony (without pulling out any of the waves) and secure with a hair colored tie slightly below your shoulders, like a Washington Pony. If some layers fall out, don't worry about it. Carefully roll the ends of the pony under and pin into the hair along the nape of your neck, securing them with several bobby pins. Fan out the back of your hair so your new "lob" extends around your ears.
Spray your hair with Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play to allow the hair to move without being sticky. This will also add major shine and volume as well as helping your hair to stand up to humidity. Whether you're accepting an award at the end of a red carpet or stepping out on a first date, you'll look flawless.
