I don't always have a great nail day. Ok, full truth? I almost never have good nails days. My cuticles are tricky and my nails are often weak and soft. That means they are usually on the shorter side. Which is the other problem. I'm a klutz and painting perfect shorter nails is hard enough to say, let alone paint with your left hand.
Place the first finger you are going to polish into half-circle that fits it best, inserting the card just slightly under the edge of your short nail. Even if your nail is shorter than short, you can make this happen painlessly. Now paint the surface of your nail, without getting it all over your skin. SO EASY!
Voila! Pretty nails that won't budge. So easy and it's practically like actually recycling those cards instead of pretending they didn't fall under the sofa.
I'm not the only one who does that, am I?

Grab one of those subscription cards that is constantly falling out of magazines. It's the perfect weight and absorbency to make a finger shield. Now cut three little finger shapes into the edge of the card so your fingers, including your pinky and thumb can be protected.

Fab idea- thanks. You are the Macgyver of nails! :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! I hope it works for you as well as it did for me!!
ReplyDeleteYeah! I seriously hope it helps!!
ReplyDeleteThis seems so obvious, yet I never would have thought of it on my own! Thank you SO MUCH for this idea! I'm very excited to try it out! I have to keep my nails short for work (I can't type with long nails.) so I'm always running into the problem of messy manicures. Plus, I always have those annoying magazine cards laying all over. This is the perfect use for them! Thanks again! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I did. I've tried all kinds of tape and stickers and paper blocking techniques. I'm terrible at them. If you had really long nails, you could water marble the tips only for a really unique french that is meant to be imperfect.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great and simple idea! Maybe I'll finally be able to do something with my nails!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! I always try to paint the tip like in the salons but always fail. This is something that I can easily do. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome idea. I'm gonna give it a go next time I paint my nails. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a seriously brilliant idea! Do you have any tips for the French manicure look? Especially getting a neat white strip?
ReplyDeleteI made a cheat sheet with one of those cards for my longish nails and it's amazing. I have so much trouble doing my own nails so I'm excited that you gave us this tip!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do I keep it from coming out
ReplyDeleteCool tip thanks
ReplyDeleteThe shooty-town bit made me laugh.
