Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Shampoo + Live Review

I decided that since my last video of trying something brand new on camera went so well, I'd share my first time with you again. This time, I tried Alterna's Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Shampoo.

This dry shampoo is talc-free and is a loose powder that is applied by shaking it on to the roots. It has a needle nose applicator that helps direct exactly where the product goes, which is helpful, making it slightly less messy to apply than products that "pouf" on or use a traditional powder cap.

This is the first time I've used this product. And yes, once again, I manage to dump way too much on my head. It comes out really, really quickly. You would think I would eventually learn...

(Bah! In this still frame I look like I have robot mouth. It was the best of the options, though.

Some things I learned after wearing this a few times:

It comes out really fast.

It blends in easily, despite being a white powder.

It didn't do much in the way of volume for me. However, I've read in other reviews that people with thinner hair did get a volume boost. What I did find interesting about this dry shampoo is that after I recently had my hair colored, my scalp was very irritated and itchy. I used this product again and it did quell the itchies, which was a benefit I wasn't expecting. This would also be a great tool for creating some "grab" in freshly washed hair. Trying to do a even a pony tail can be annoying with very clean, very straight hair and adding a little of this dry shampoo will give you a surface to cling to. It won't make your hair feel overly dry, but it will give you a little something to make styling easier.

While it did help make my hair feel less oily, it didn't do a fantastic job of that either. Then again, I have crazy thick hair that has a mind of its own. If you have thinner hair, this might be perfect for you. If you are looking for something to give thin or straight hair a "dirt" to help with styling, this is probably a great choice.

At the end of the day, I don't think this did a bad job removing oil on my thick hair, but I don't think it did a great job, either. I think it's probably better for thinner, less dense hair. Have you tried it? What did you think?

Pick it up for $20 at DryShampoo.com.
