This week's Makeup Wars is all about color correctors. You know, using yellow for hyperpigmentation, green for acne or red spots or peach for blue circles under the eyes. Sephora has eleventy-hundred of them to choose from and they are lovely.
Here's the thing. You don't need 'em.
If you are a model or a makeup artist, then you should be familiar with color theory and apply it to how you choose all your makeup when designing your looks. But I just can't get behind the trends that only exist to move product during a sluggish sales season (and I hate saying "baaa").
Go ahead, get it out in the comment section.

I'm not mad at you for loving your green correctors. If you want to use purple to make your skin look less yellow, go for it! Do your makeup in whatever way makes you feel the happiest. If knowing you have on a foundation of unicorn stripes under your Armani Silk makes you feel good then, by all means, I will not stand in your way. But you don't have to spend a ton of money coloring your face to achieve a negligible difference because the giant retailers say you should. You don't have to collect all of the palettes so your selfies look amazing pre-app and filter. You can say no.
Unless you are working on your artistry, save your money for a new formulation of something else that is just around the corner. I know this is crazy talk for a beauty blogger. But having lived through this cycle more than once, this is not the bandwagon to jump on, no matter how many gondolas Sephora fills with product and posters.
And yes, color correctors do work. A little peachy concealer under the eyes will do wonders with a good concealer. Want ideas of other products since I didn't get to any? :-) Click the tiles below!
