Who doesn't want flawless skin that looks natural and perfected? The foundations this year made it really easy to look stunning without a lot of effort. These products changed how we get ready (and made us think about what kind of camera we would be using!). Keep reading to see if your favorite was also a breakthrough foundation of 2015!

Foundation breakthroughs,

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation ($43.00) is quite an achievement. Previously, foundations were designed to look good under the lens of an HD camera. No one is shooting on HD anymore and the foundation had to change with the times. Modern cameras are capturing details that previously weren't easily visible in high def. Skin can look beyond perfect to our own eye and even better on camera--or so much worse. It all depends on what you use. This foundation covers, looks natural and is amazing in photos and videos.  Max Factor, the legendary artist and cosmetic creator, would be proud of this advancement.

Foundation breakthroughs,
Speaking of Max Factor, the Smashbox Water BB ($42.00) didn't get enough attention. This year brought the rise of the skinny foundation: foundations so thin, you barely feel like you're wearing a drop. While several of these serum foundations hit shelves, the Smashbox was my favorite in 2015.

This foundation delivers beautiful results without adding oils. It's buildable and never cakey, yet it feels like you are wearing nothing. The formula itself is as thin as water but feels more like liquid silk. You'll need a concealer to cover acne or scars, but your skin will look like you, just more polished. I didn't expect the wear to be as tremendous, especially since it feels so light. Coverage remains as perfect at 8pm as it was when you placed it at 7am. I hope they expand the shade range beyond the current eight available. It's a fantastic formulation.

Foundation breakthroughs,

COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation ($12.99)  is officially the "selfie" foundation. Developed specifically to look good on your phone camera, you can't go wrong with COVERGIRL. In person, I thought this foundation looked lovely, but not quite as nice as the Maybelline Fit Me. In photos, however, it does look pretty sweet. This product went through so many rounds of tweaking, you know you're going to look amazing in your 'grams and snaps. Learn more in my review.

Foundation breakthroughs,

Too Faced Born This Way  ($39.00) was one of my favorite products of the year. I think it was my product of the week for five weeks straight? I would say this is a medium to full coverage foundation with a wide shade range. The magic of this foundation happens while it sets. You apply it (I like to use my fingers) and then wait about 30 seconds. Magical. Check out my review.

CoverFX Custom Drops ($44.00) changed the way you do your makeup. Available in two dozen shades, one will fit you perfectly. Add a few drops to your favorite oil, moisturizer or mixing base and you've got amazing coverage that won't move. This is the go to foundation (and the one they keep coming back to!) for several of my blogging friends. Here's more about my experience with this foundation.

Foundation breakthroughs,

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue ($29.00) is a gel cream foundation that perfects skin while you wear it. Electrolytes, marine algae and antioxidants visibly brightens skin every time you apply it. It's perfect for sheer to medium coverage and works on oil or dry skin. Skin remains hydrated throughout the day and is protected from the sun by the SPF 30.  This is the ultimate "weekend" foundation. My original review will tell you more.

Did your favorite make the list? If you could create a foundation, what would you look for? What do you want to see in 2016? Let's discuss in the comments!
