Makeup Wars: Products We've Been "Forced" to Purchase

Purchased by Me Affiliate links

This week in Makeup Wars, we are talking about the products that other bloggers have twisted our arms into buying. Think readers are the only people influenced by what other bloggers love? Hardly! One of the reasons I don't spend all day looking at beauty porn is because I'll buy everything. I've got an itchy shopping trigger finger  and I don't need much of a reason to expand my collection.

Things I've purchased because other bloggers have "forced me to purchase" include:

MaskCara's Foundation System: I love that girl and I'll buy whatever she loves. Her foundation didn't work for me, but scores of you loved it!

Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Eyeshadows: These shadows are my beauty porn weakness. I love how they look, how they wear and I love looking at them (Which reminds me, where is my black Chanel shadow? I need to find that, stat!).

Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm: Several of my friends rave about this. I wish it did the same thing for me, but it was just average. I'm still looking for an eye cream that is a miracle worker. The best one I've found so far is Perricone, but I don't want to shell out the money, as I don't like how they work with bloggers. (How's that for holding a weird grudge?)

What products have you been "forced" to pick up by bloggers? Share in the comments and check out the tiles below to see what other bloggers have been "forced" to buy!

  4. I feel like half my beauty stash exists because another blogger reviewed it. I've never heard of Maskcara before. I'll have to investigate

  5. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness - Everyone, and I mean everyone, loves this product. It looks amazing on them. Their skin is flawless when they put it on. The rave about it.

I wanted this product so badly. I searched and searched for a way to get it here in Canada (TSC was sold out forever and no one else shipped to Canada or they had ridiculous shipping charges). Finally TSC had it back in stock and I ordered it. When it arrived I tore it open, giddy with anticipation, and applied.

It looked terrible on me. I tried again, using less product. I mean, everyone said you only needed the tiniest amount. It still looked bad. Very mask-like and aging. Unnatural.

I used almost nothing the next time. My husband said, "What are you doing different? Your skin looks...weird." Sigh. The next day I went back to my trusty '10 Hour Sleep Foundation' by Bourjois and my husband said, "Wow, you look terrific! Yesterday you looked ten years older." So...yeah. It doesn't work for me. So, SO disappointed.

  6. Not really a blogger but after I read Tyra Banks's makeup book way back when, I had to purchase face powder. My first buy was a translucent one by NYC. It's stuck and I've been using powder ever since.

  8. I haven't read a single review from a blogger I know that liked the Maskara foundation!

  9. I've been forced to buy all of these too actually. I do love the Algenist Eye Balm and I'm on my second one. I've bought every one of my Chanel and Armani creamy eyeshadows because of all these blogger ladies! And I caved on the MaskCara and it doesn't work great for me either.

  10. Being a beauty blogger has given me such a weak resolve! Between reading others' blogs and having one of my own, it's sometimes hard to tell myself "I don't need that." Whenever I want to buy something that really don't need, I can just say "Oh, I can review it on my blog!" and then suddenly it seems like I HAVE to have it.
