Makeup Wars: Five Minute Face

Purchased by Me Sent For Review Affiliate links

This week's Makeup Wars is all about the five minute face. I like to take my time with my makeup, so this is a tricky one for me! To figure out what I can actually do in a true five minutes, I've been setting a timer and seeing how much I can accomplish and what looks best.

I can tell you from my own trials and errors that liquid foundation (even a BB!) is out for me. It's a powder foundation or nothing. I can't do a nice liquid foundation in less than three minutes, which doesn't leave me enough time for brows and mascara, which are deal-breakers for me. Here were my lofty goals when trying to get my five minute face down.

1. Must include foundation.
2. Must include brows.
3. Must include mascara.
4. Must include lips.
5. Must include some kind of cheek color.

Yikes! That is five items in five minutes. Here's my plan for a polished five minute face.

But first, let's just agree that skincare isn't part of the 5 minutes. Applying sunscreen doesn't take that long.

I started by dusting Laura Mercier's New Smooth Finish Foundation Powder all over my face. (I love this powder so much, it's changed my feelings on powdered foundation completely!

I then quickly added brows with brow powder by FACE Stockholm.

I used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette to dust a bit of color and highlight on to my face and eyes. If you pick up one palette this season, this should be it.

Mascara was up next - I'm on a Mally Volumizing Mascara kick these days. I love how quickly it plumps up my lashes!

I sealed everything with a kiss from Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick in Adora. A bold lip helps make up for the lack of color everywhere else!

    1. Aw, thank you! I did it in about as much time. I put it up in hot rollers while I got dressed and then braided one side of my head and flopped it over to be a head band. SIMPLE!

  5. Your hair, woman! The colour, the curls! I feel faint with envy. (Apologies for the over-familiarity of the address, but that's the first thing I thought when I saw the picture).

  6. What a great look. I didn't use any eyebrows in my look since my bangs are long enough to hide them if necessary but I do agree that brows are important.

  8. A bold lip really does hide a multitude of sins, doesn't it? My "bare minimum" face isn't far off from this - powder foundation to tone down my rosacea, a bit of bronzer to keep me from looking dead, mascara, brows, and a bright lip and I can face the world.
