Holy Grail Skincare + Foundation. I'm as Shocked as You.

For the most part, I'm the happiest I've ever been with my skin right now (This shocks me too!). Skincare, foundation, concealer...everything is working perfectly. I've even hit pan on several of these and repurchased, which is completely unheard of for me. If I had to pick products to live with forever, these would be it.

For now, anyway, here's my Holy Grail list for 2013. Who knows what 2014 will bring?

Cleansers:
I've been washing with a combination of two cleansers from Philosophy. Both Miracle Worker Lactic Acid Cleanser and Mask and The Microdelivery earn permanent places in my bathroom. Miracle Worker uses lactic acid to remove dead skin cells and clean and condition your skin. I initially ran out of Miracle Worker and accidentally picked up The Microdelivery, which exfoliates with tiny granules while cleaning and conditioning your skin. My skin looks fresh, happy and radiant.

Treatment:
Once a week, I've also been exfoliating with a scrub that has a little more oomph. I don't feel like I'm overdoing it, as the Philosophy is meant to be used daily and is on the gentle side. My non-wimpy scrub of choice? Microdermabrasion Scrub from Derma-E. This scrub is made of volcanic silica and dead sea salts, plus natural astringents, vitamin E and grapeseed. My face looks younger after each use!

Serum (Day and Night):
For about twenty years I've been friends with a makeup artist who works for Estee Lauder. I saw her recently (Hi Toni!) and was totally wow'd by her skin. I mean WOW'd. She looked younger than me! (She could be my mom!) She convinced me to shell out the moolah to try Estee Lauder's new Advanced Night Recovery (I get so much skincare sent to me, I almost never buy it). Not only does it offer intense hydration, it smooths the surface of the skin and boosts radiance. I haven't been using an eye cream and my crow's feet are less now then they have been with anything else I've ever tried. I'm using this day and night, just like my girl Toni. And I love it.

Oil (Day):
My skin can still use a little more moisture. Plus, I firmly believe you can always be more radiant. Until I sparkle like a Cullen, I won't give up looking for MORE. Right now, I'm getting it from Boscia's Tsubaki Beauty Oil. It contains loads of fatty acids and Omega-3, as well as Tsubaki Oil (Camellia oil). Camellia oil has been used by Japanese women for centuries to give them gorgeous skin. I love the radiance boost this gives and the fatty acids help my skin look younger.

Additional Night Cream:
At night, I've been adding a little more to my routine to really take advantage of my skin's "downtime". Derma-E's Age-Defying Night Creme with Astaxanthin (and Pycnogenol) is an anti-oxidant powerhouse that is hundreds of times more powerful than vitamin E when it comes to neutralizing free radicals. It feels fantastic and the scent reminds me of some of my favorite spa visits. It's lightly scented with lavender oil, which always encourages me to sleep.

That's the skincare. I've always been a hardcore foundation snob and nothing has changed.

My current favorite combo for flawless skin is....

For days when I have a few minutes to really perfect my face, I love NARS Radiant Creme in Siberia. I have to set it with a powder of some sort, but it looks like second skin, wears really well on my dry skin and looks perfect. I've been setting my face with a variety of colors from the Hourglass Ambient Light Palette. I'm going to need to pick up a second one, I love it so much!

For days when I don't have a lot of time, Laura Mercier's new Smooth Finish Foundation Powder. It's fast, it's beautiful, it's light and there is no scent.

To hide any dark circles, I'm in love with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye For days I need a little more coverage. On days I need a little less, the BBUE Corrector Concentrate.

Those are my must-have, holy grail items right now. As science creates better products, I'm sure this will change, but if I had to live with this list forever, I'd be really, really happy.

  1. If you are going to get a 2nd Ambient Light palette, do it soon.

The MGR of my local Sephora told me that her Hourglass rep said they serious underestimated how popular the palette would be & they did not manufacture enough to me the supply demands thru Xmas.

The awesome to MGR was also kind enough to put an Ambient Light palette on hold for me from their Friday night shipment so I can have it waiting for me under the Xmas tree!
