Best Concealers for Dark Circles

When all else fails, the alarm doesn't go off, the dog won't come in and you can't find your keys, you can still skate through the day with the right concealer and a smile. Finding the right formula is the hardest part. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you.

I spend a lot of time makeup shopping with others at Gouldylox To Go's, trying to find the best concealer for each person. I'm also a little bit of a foundation/concealer snob, so you won't see any really low-priced items on my list. Most are around $20, so it's not going to kill your wallet. Hey, at least I'm honest. I just don't find many concealers in the drugstores that I would suggest wholeheartedly. Here are my go-to products. One should be perfect for you! *

Armani Maestro Eraser Concealer: This is the thinnest concealer that packs the most punch. It looks like skin, but better. It doesn't crease and lasts for at least 6 hours.

Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil: This is the creamiest pencil I've tried. It's wear lives up to its name: it stays until you take it off. I'm getting 8 hours or more with this pencil.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer: This is perfect for you if really dark circles are your issue. Bye Bye Under Eye is an extremely pigmented and natural looking concealer that will hide pretty much anything.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Corrector: This is BBUE Concealer's baby sister. It's still really pigmented, but is thinner in consistency and has a slight peach undertone to neutralize dark circles. This is what I've been reaching for every day for weeks.

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer: This concealer is highly pigmented and glides on the skin beautifully. It won't drag or pull and doesn't settle into fine lines. If a color works for you, you may never look for anything else again.

Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer: This concealer has a salmon colored base and is what gives day time talk show hosts their fabulous faces. Eve herself is an Emmy-winning makeup artist and this is one of her crowning glories. I've never met anyone who didn't love this concealer.

I've also found that a little Ben Nye Banana Powder to seal the under eye area goes a long way towards hiding really severe dark circles!

Then there is Anne, who is Italian and loves to look slightly tan, and is incredibly concerned, worried about if her concealer settles into the finest of tiny lines. Here is her secret cocktail to avoid creasing at all costs:

"Too Faced for my face overall, and Napoleon Perdis Mighty Concealer Pen in Mellow Yellow for my under-eye area. It's the best brightening eye concealer EVER. Makes me look just like Kim Kardashian."

AbyDaz, my sister-in-law, was gifted some serious dark circles at birth. She's otherwise as fair as the driven snow.  It's genetic--no amount of sleep will ever reduce her dark circles. Her secret recipe? Smashbox Undereye Primer, then Hourglass Primer 28 (the clear one) then Tarte Maracuja Concealer. Don't forget some bareMinerals Well Rested on top!

*Unless you are Anne Houseman of BeautyXpose. That crazy woman has requirements that no one can meet. I wish I had a photo of the face she makes to check her concealer. It makes me tink and giggle each time I see it.
