It's no secret I'm not a huge fan of a Clarisonic. I like it, don't get me wrong. But I also like washcloths. And I'll never forget Paula Begoun debunking the difference between a sonic brush that spins and a washcloth (if you missed it, the washcloth did just as good of a job).
But I keep looking for more gadgets to blow me away. The latest to land on my vanity is the Foreo Luna. This little gem looks like something that belongs in the boudoir, but really lives in the sink or shower. To start, it's 100% waterproof and made of silky smooth silicone. Its brush head never needs replacing, a single charge lasts forever, it cleans your skin with a non-abrasive silicone nubs and it even helps your skincare sink in. And it's simple to use. Do I have your attention?
Think of it as a Clarisonic and an Opal in one little device. Use one side, with a custom texture, to cleanse your face and the other side to massage your skincare into the skin. The facial massage feels fantastic and when used correctly would help with lymphatic drainage, which can actually make your face look less puffy and slightly thinner. You can even adjust the strength of the vibrations. The Luna is available in three cleansing patterns. One for Normal/Sensitive Skin (shown), one for Ultra-Sensitive Skin and one for Combination Skin.
According to the company, here is how it works.
T-Sonic™ (transdermal sonic) pulsations are applied across the dermal surface to instantly refresh the look and feel of the skin. Comparable to enjoying a mini-facial in the comfort of home, these pulsations are channeled through soft silicone touch-points, removing dead skin cells, and cleansing pores of dirt, oil and makeup residue, while improving the absorption of your skincare products.
Foreo swears by visible results after three days. What did I see?
Honestly, I didn't see much difference. However, let's keep in mind that I get facials regularly as well as peels and use high quality skin care. So if something can make my routine better that fast, then we should all invest in it immediately.
Is this for you? If you have sensitive skin, hate the idea of changing brush heads that are tricky to clean and have been thinking of getting a sonic facial cleaner or gadget similar to the Opal, the Luna packs serious value. It couldn't be easier to use. Everything you need to know is obvious on the Luna. The cleansing area is on top. The controls are below. The massaging head is on the back. Easy!
If you are into really scrubbing your skin and wanting to feel smoother skin after each and every use, I don't know if the cleansing will feel complete enough for you. If you love to get into the nooks and crevices around your nose, you might find that this device (and the Clarisonic) fall short.
If you have $200 and a sense of adventure, a love of facial massages and sensitive skin, you may have met your new best friend. Let's not forget that it's fun to use and NEVER absorbs or wastes your pricey skincare products like other similar brushes. That means more product stays on your face and works into your skin. Plus, your product will last longer and go further
If you've tried this, tell me all about it in the comments, will ya?
