Skincare that Snaps, Crackles & Pops!

Sometimes skin care is just boring. You pile on the lotions and the creams and then wait. Nothing happens, no fireworks, no magic. But as it turns out, that isn't always the case.

Enter two products, new to me, that sizzle, crackle and pop. Literally.

The first product is called Instant Revitalizing Mask by Radiant Skincare. According to the company:

Designed to hydrate, oxygenate, stimulate and provide a supply of key vitamins to the skin, the Instant Revitalizing Mask delivers visibly transformative results by improving skin’s respiration. The revolutionary mask contains Sodium PCA, which helps maintain ideal moisture balance within the skin, as well as ginseng extract to stimulate collagen production and nasturtium extract to regulate oxidation reactions. In addition, the mask is formulated with a nourishing complex of betacarotene and antioxidant-rich vitamins A, C and E, vital for collagen production and proper development of skin’s natural barriers. The result? Clean, soft and supple skin that’s brighter and more luminous thanks to a microcirculation boost.

It's really easy to use. You wash and dry your face, then apply a thin layer of the lotion to your face. Within a few minutes, the lotion will plump before your eyes and start to fizz. This actually tickles a bit. It's also a little interesting to watch, judging by Loxy's fascination with the micro-bubbles. I've been using it twice a week for about a month and each time, my skin is a little brighter! Try it yourself for $65.

(Why can't the still YouTube pics ever be KIND?)

The second product is Perlier Lemon Sorbet Refreshing Ice Granita. While all signs point to delicious, you don't eat this. This is a curious product. It's refreshing, slightly hydrating and totally addictive. I like to keep it in the fridge for especially hot days. But what is it exactly? Here's a quick video to show you. I can't think of a better way to describe it than it's like Pop Rocks For Your Face.

Apply this to your skin anytime you need to cool down or freshen up. The instant cooling sizzle, followed by a crackle when you smooth the product on your skin, is as addictive as it is odd. Your skin will feel slightly cooled, you'll smell like fresh lemon granita and you will want to put it on everyone you know (but not the dogs, mine are afraid of it). Your skin will feel slightly hydrated, but it's not a lotion substitute. Try it for $24.50. If you love lemons and are up for the unusual, you just might love it. Save $5 off of an Perlier HSN purchase with code Ifabbo5.

Do you like the idea of odd products or are you happy with plain and simple? Tell me what you like in the comments!

  1. The Lemon Sorbet does sound like pop rocks! Seems like a cool product and with all these hot humid days in a row - probably pretty refreshing!

  2. Sounds fun, but the "Radical" mask strikes me as one great big gimmick. If it "oxygenates," whatever that is, then it can work against "oxidation reactions" whatever that is, never mind help with the "respiration of the skin," whatever that is. The Barney's blurb actually describes this product as both adding oxygen to the skin and protecting it from oxygen. I mean, more gibberish marketese you can't find anywhere. Fortunately, a product you leave on your skin for a couple of minutes and wash off can't do a whole lot of anything, though it does sound to me like what this mostly does is cover your skin with a bunch of irritants that will cause it to swell slightly, thereby appearing refreshed when it in fact has actually been injured. Pass.

    1. That is an interesting take on the product! I don't buy into the oxygenation of products in general. It takes a decent amount of anything to make my skin react - it definitely didn't react negatively. My skin did look refreshed afterwards. I'm assuming that the vitamins would lead to a more radiant complexion over time, but I can't say that you are wrong.... (also, it feels neat!)

  3. Love the Perlier. It's the most fun to use. I don''t think anyone with kids should let them get near it though or it will be wasted on unappreciative souls who don't want that subtle lemony goodness on them.
