This fall Laura Mercier is adding a new lip product to her permanent collection. Meet Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Color. According to the company,

Laura Mercier New Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour

"Laura re-invents lipstick with this 100% wax-free lip colour. The product delivers pure, long-lasting breathable colour and comforts the lips with nourishing hydration. The light-as-air formula feels completely weightless."

The collection includes fifteen shades that run from nude to very bright. The colors feel incredibly light on the lips and, despite not being glossy (the shades I've tried), they never feel dry on the lips.

Sheer colors: Shy, Silk, Star, Sexy, Sin
Matte Colors: Malt, Mink, Mod, Moi, Muse, Myth
Crème colors: Coy, Café, Chic, Cozy

I've been able to try two of the new lipcolors, Myth and Sexy.

Laura Mercier New Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour

Sexy is a sheer poppy. On my lips it tends to go more of a deep poppy than when I just swatch it. I suppose it takes on a life of its own once applied. I wish this shade had a tinge more pigment. It's truly a sheer wash of color.

Myth is a matte berry that will look ravishing this fall. Add a liner to this lippie for a dramatic pout. The color of this particular shade isn't so dark that it can't be swayed by your choice of liner. It's a good tool to have in your berry arsenal, especially if you are a liner girl!

Overall, I like how these colors apply in layers, and I find you get the best application if you apply more than one layer of color. Follow up with a lip liner to get a defined edge. If you want the more casual "applied with a finger" look that all of the magazines keep trying to make happen, this lip rouge does it automatically.

There are thirteen other colors in the collection. Are you checking them out or looking for something else? Tell me what you want for your lips this fall in the comments!

  1. Laura Mercier has always made great lip products, so this caught my eye. They sound worth a look, though neither shade is too unique

  2. I'm intrigued by the wax free element that makes these lip colors feel weightless. Your review implies that they truly maintain a light feel once applied. I'm wondering how long the color lasted. Did you apply more coats because you wanted more vibrant color or because it wore off throughout the day?
