My skin is dry, my hair is dry, my cuticles are a hot mess and my lips follow suit. As an "indoor girl", I like my climate controlled and comfy, which often means lips that are on the dry side. Needless to say, I try a lot of lip balms, glosses and assorted products in an attempt to get juicy lips.
Since the Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil came across my desk, I haven't let it out of my sight. First of all, the applicator is luxe. Forget a stick of balm jammed into a container that rolls up (and gets a nasty rim of purse lint around the cap gap). This Treatment Oil comes out of the top of the gold plated applicator, one use at a time, feeling incredible on the lips.
This is so much more than a standard lanolin lip balm. In fact, there is no lanolin. Instead, it uses K3 Viamerine, derived from sunflower, that provides deeper hydration and can help lessen fine lines and wrinkles. Clinical studies have shown that this treatment improves hydration by 6000% if used twice a day for 28 days. The treatment oil is made from a blend of 14 oils including Bois De Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Petitgrain, Lemon, Rosemary, Vanilla, Clove, Amyris, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Cedar, and Rose Geranium, as well as lipid-rich plant oils that include Hazelnut, Kukui Nut, Rose Hip, Borage, Olive, Green Tea, Cherry Pit, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, and Evening Primrose, and is fortified with vitamins A, B5, C, and E. I wasn't kidding when I said this was far from the standard issue lip treatment!
The science nerd in me loves how well it performs and the packaging lover in me adores how lovely the applicator is, not to mention how cool and smooth it feels when you apply. I will say, it's not the cheapest lip treatment you'll ever try at $42 (especially since there is no SPF), but I'm not sure I'll want to be without it.
Check it out for yourself at Sephora.
