Beauty Breakdown: Katherine Webb

With everyone fawning all over new sports/model/web sensation Katherine Webb, I thought I would break down her basic look. Sure, she's really pretty in a girl-next-door-got-famous kind of way, but she doesn't just roll out of bed like that. She has a little help from more than a few products (don't we all?). In case you were curious as to how she might get that way, here is what I think makes her worthy of a sportscaster's apology (and thousands of new twitter followers per minute).

The Face:
She has perfect skin. To get it, fake it by starting with a primer like Vanish from Miracle Skin Transformer. Then move on to a stunning, velvety finish foundation, like Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet. Hide imperfections with a thin yet beautiful concealer that looks as if you aren't covering up any secrets. I love Armani Beauty's Maestro Concealer for that specific task. Finally, add a bit of highlight under the eyes, between the brows and (slightly up and) and across the top of the cheekbone with YSL's Touche Elcat.

The Cheeks:
Start with a touch of a contouring shade, preferably a cream, like Laura Mercier Creme Blush in Praline. Then add a touch of a brighter than nude highlighter just above the Praline contour and across the tops of the apples. Buxom Goddess Luminizer is a great option for fair- to medium- toned ladies like Katherine.

The Eyes:
Start by using a great primer, like Too Faced Shadow Insurance and cover your lids. Using the new Laura Mercier Free Spirit Shadow Palette, use the pinky tone in the corner of the eye and across the lid. Add the medium tone brown from the middle of the eye ball over to the crease. Using the "v"shaped brush, use the darkest brown to create a classic "V" crease. Add a bit of your favorite nude highlighter under the brows and blend with the crease color. Follow up with a touch of brown liner on the top and part way across the bottom. Blend the medium brown shadows together with the pointy end of the brush. Line the bottom of the eyes with the powder for a slightly sultry finish. Add a a few coats of a pretty but realistic mascara, like COVERGIRL's Clump Crusher mascara (the green one).

The Brows:
On Katherine, the brows get their own category. These are seriously grown, groomed and gorgeous brows. Seek the help of a master waxer to help you achieve that arch. Then using a brown brow powder, like Anastasia's,  and the sharp end of a brow brush, place the flat end of the brush along the edge of your brows. Fill in with powder and comb brows into place with a spoolie brush.

The Lips:
Keep it easy with a nude lip, like a Too Faced Lip Creme (I like Honey Bear).

To Finish:
If you feel like you need to take a powder, try one that gives a tiny bit of illumination, like COVER FX's Illuminating Powder.

  1. how do u think she curls her hair?

    1. Looks like a great blowout as and hot rollers, or a large barrel curling iron.

  2. I haven't heard of her before, but she is definitely gorgeous!
