Beauty I Want Now: September 2012

Why is it, no matter how old I get, that back-to-school season is still my favorite time to go shopping. I feel compelled to switch up my wardrobe, for both my body and my makeup palette, each time September rolls around. After poring over magazines and press releases and strolling through stores, here is what has my interest for the upcoming month.

Urban Decay just launched three new dangerous palettes that deliver that signature UD look. Dangerous, Fun and Feminine each include six shadows, a lip gloss mini and a reusable case. Check these out at Ulta for $36 each. Don't forget to check out Ulta's calendar of beauty buys and bonuses for the month of September.

Too Faced is also at it again with a larger version of their beloved holiday mini collections with the Little Black Book of Beauty. Quite a bit larger than the pocket-sized collectible kits each holiday, this collection gives you twelve shadows, two blushes, a bronzer, highlighter, lip creme and deluxe size mascara. This also retails for $36 from Ulta and is small enough to take everywhere, but contains enough options to keep you covered for any situation.

Tarte has finally released the blush I have been waiting for in stores as part of their fall 2012 collection. I ADORE spongy, pigmented shadows and have been wondering why no one (other than MAC) has launched any cheek colors in the same texture. Airblush Maracuja Cheek Colors give a little sheen, a nice amount of color and a lot of product for $25. Available in Shimmering Peach, Shimmering Pink and Shimmering Poppy; you can't go wrong with any of them.  My favorite? Surprisingly, the Poppy. It's slightly more complex than your average peachy/coral. Apply with the Tarte Fiber Brush for an airbrushed look!

While shooting on location in what was essentially Charming, California, I got the change to ask celeb makeup artist Maxi what product would most likely change my life. I should say, we started this discussion while I was laying in the bottom of the wardrobe closet in the motor home on location, trying not to get sick because of the incredible heat. Luckily, if any makeup artist is going to understand my quirks, it's got to be Maxi. Either way, when I'm in NYC this week, I'm rushing to Barney's to pick up Koh Gen Do's Maifanshi Makeup Color Base in Yellow at his suggestion. According to Maxi, this will cancel out my constant cheek flush, without adding any additional yellow cast to my skin. It's $48. but if it will change my life, it's a small price to pay.

Finally, while I'm in NYC this week, I'm hoping to finally take the plunge and go for some serious hair. I've been growing mine for almost three years and it's finally officially long. But now, what was once long is almost short, thanks to the nipple grazing lengths of everyone, everywhere who isn't me. However, I'm not interested in potentially risking the health of my hair or having a tight, headache-inducing scalp. After discussing my options with Maxi and with super stylist Christopher Box, it looks like I've found the exact type of extensions I've been looking for. Easihair offers up human hair extensions that are applied with tape and won't stress my own hair. I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm hoping to get the chance to go through with it. The application will last for a month or longer and since it's real hair, I can easily style it as if it's my own. I love hair extensions, but I've never not been able to take them out at the end of the night. Have you tried Easihair? Please tell me all about it!
