Opening This July: The Laura Mercier Cinema Noir Collection

It's time for a sneak peek at the upcoming fall season! From Laura Mercier, it means a departure from the bright neons, loud pastels and carefree summer makeup. For Fall 2012, Laura Mercier, is all about Cinema Noir.

You've seen these films noir. Double Indemnity. The Maltese Falcon. The Big Sleep. White Heat. One thing they all have in common, besides intrigue and strong, silent types, is a lot of moody tones that give the films that rich, rich look. Based on the classic noir tone, Laura Mercier has come up with a collection that brings those characters, emotions and feelings to life with her Cinema Noir Collection.

This new collection includes two shadow duets. Mystere is a grayish blue combo, while Suspense is a cream and burgundy-infused chocolate. Draw the attention to your eyes with a Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Teal or Ground Espresso. This collection also includes a mascara that adds a bit of smokey technicolor to your lashes with a hint of Burgundy, instead of plain black. Highlight your cheeks with the Shimmer Bloc in Starlet Mosaic. Cinema Noir lip colors include Passion Fruit, Tea Rose, Raspberry Sorbet and Fresh Brown. Finally, finish your look with a coat or two of Organza, Nude Silk or Cocoa Suede on your nails. Products range in price from $18-38.

I got a chance to check out one of the shadow duets, Suspense, as well as the Tightline Cake Liner in Teal.

The Suspense shadow duet includes two complimentary shades. One is a matte, cream shade that disappears into my pale skin. The darker color is more of a chocolate brown with a slight burgundy twist. These complimentary colors will look classic on us paler beauties, as the colors are fairly universal. The slight hint of burgundy will help make the all eye colors pop in a way that a standard chocolate won't.

The Cake Liner in Teal is a dusty teal, not a bright one. Imagine taking a deep teal and adding a bit of mystery shrouded in gray to the color and you've got this shade. While all of Laura's Tightline Cake Liners work beautifully for just that, I also like to use them as a standard liner that wears exceptionally well.

Here is a look at my take on the Cinema Noir Look (please note, I did not use her cheek or lip colors in this look.)

  1. I think I'm in love--this might be the prettiest collection ever. And I'm only slightly biased by obsession with old films and the fact that these are all the colors I tend to wear regularly...

  2. Laura Mercier is THE best and worth the money.
