Salma is a powerhouse in the cosmetics industry right now. Yes, that Salma. Not only did she launch one of the biggest celebrity lines ever with over 100 products from jump street, she just expanded that very line to include even more wisdom from her grandmother. The products are well thought out and, for the most part, a joy to use and discover. The prices are reasonable and the quality is better than many of the products sharing equal shelf space.
I got a chance to try her new Advanced Hydration Smooth and Firm Perfector, which is essentially a really hard working SPF/Treatment/Primer. It's a silky, light gel that fills in fine lines and pores while giving makeup an even, dewy surface to adhere to. I would almost swear it's got little light-reflecting bits that brighten your skin. But it gets better.
This treatment boasts an SPF of 20 and broad spectrum SPF of 20 at that (provided you aren't sweating up a storm or getting wet). It also includes Tepezcohuite, Blue Agave, Camapu and Prickly Pear Extracts to help firm, soothe and hydrate your skin. Licorice extract helps control hyperpigmentation and additional oils and vitamins help moisturize and feed the skin. It's these ingredients that would make Salma's Nana proud and make the product different from almost everything else on the shelf. And this feel unlike any SPF I've ever worn before. There is NO whiteness, no chalky face, no greasy feel. It does make your skin feel slightly smooth, thanks to the ingredients and the hint of silicone, but it's not greasy.
This beautiful little gel does so much for $20. It feels light, almost as if it's hovering directly over your fine lines, creating a smooth canvas for your makeup. It has a slight, fresh aroma that smells delicately floral, and that smells much more like $60 than $20. It makes your skin feel perfectly hydrated and smooth. If you apply it to one side of your face and not the other, it's honestly kind of like the difference between night and day. This is a must for those of you with dry skin, and it has a broad spectrum SPF of 20. It doesn't get much better than this.
