Recently, while I was trying to lower my blood pressure by losing time on Pinterest, I came across this photo of Emily Blunt. It looks so elegant and polished, I had to share it with you.
This twist on a Gibson roll is so easy you'll be begging for a chance to show off your fancy skills. Here is how you do it.
Start with hair that has a little grip to it. If your hair is too clean, it will be too slippery. Add a little dry shampoo and you'll be set.
Place your headband high on your head so you can approximate where the feather will cover. Starting at your part, begin gathering your hair and twisting all of your hair together, framing your face, on the non-feather side. If you have bangs, you may want to start "rolling" your hair around your temple on the non-feather side. Do this until you reach the middle of the back of your head. Using some pins or a sturdy clip, hold the hair in place while you repeat this on the opposite side. On the side that will sport the feather, begin rolling your hair right below where the feather will be placed.
Once you've twisted everything into place and met in the middle, take the untwisted hair from both sides and tuck it into the roll. Secure everything with pins. If you can't make it as perfectly neat as Emily's, no worries! A non-perfect updo has character, so embrace the imperfections!
Finally, take your headband or fascinator and stick the ends of the headband into the side rolls of the hair, as you had planned earlier. David and Young make affordable, exquisite headbands and fascinators. Spray your hair with a shine inducing hairspray and your ready to go! When you take down your tresses at the end of the night, you'll be left with gorgeous waves. Try it!
