I try tons of at-home peels and most don't wow me. Perhaps because I try so many, my skin seems to have a higher tolerance to these things. Maybe it's because my skin is so finely peeled there usually isn't much left to peel? Either way, it takes a lot to impress me in the peel arena.
So when I tried this Murad Intensive Resurfacing Peel, I was open-minded, but not too excited. Oh, but I should have been! According to the company:
Murad’s Intensive Resurfacing Peel brightens and smooths skin by combining the benefits of a peel with gentle microdermabrasion. Bamboo beads buff away debris and exhausted cells to reveal youthful-looking skin, while Glycolic and Salicylic Acids stimulate cell proliferation. Skin looks younger and feels smoother after just one treatment.
This peel is not messing around. This left my skin amazingly clear, soft and bright. My face was not red in the least and there was no after-peel moulting. Now don't kid yourself. Unless you have very sensitive skin or you haven't used a washcloth in years, I don't see the bamboo beads buffing away much of anything. They are few and far between. But I don't care about them. What makes this peel work is the combination of glycolic and salicylic acid. After ten minutes, you'll look as if you've come fresh from the spa. This peel rocks my socks enough to make the Holy Grail list.
In an unrelated but helpful disclosure, I've also started shaving my face. I've noticed that products are working better now that my downy cheeks are brazilian-smooth. Way better. My makeup looks a gazillion times better too. Don't believe the hype that your hair will grow back wonky if you shave your face. It won't. Here is the deal. You have two types of body hair. Terminal (think pubic) and Vellus (think soft hair on your arms and face). If you introduce a razor to the equation, it's not going to change how your body hair grows. You may feel the hair feels rougher because you've given it a point (that is now poky) as it grows back in. But you are not going to start sprouting terminal hairs on your face.
